It's not great coming from me, but I believe that improvement in art comes from your interest in it. You can look at a great picture and think "wow I wish I could do that" but you could also look at the detail the artist put in it. The work they invested their time in. Maybe even start formulating a method they used to make that effect. Either way, improvement really isn't something you should sweep under a rug and rationalize that you need a year or two to get better. If it's there in front of you, why not grab it?
